The Les Enterprises MP Roy Inc Upstate Racing League Pro Late Model Series rolled into the Rockingham Speedway for one last tune up before the Pro Series begins next Thursday night. This was a special race for many, as tonight’s race was the Tough as a Rock 61 for Danny Dubuque! Justin Fuller led the field to the green flag with a new track record time of 24.634 seconds. Al Smith Jr. would start on the outside of the front row.
There were five cautions throughout the event, with the biggest wreck coming in the early portion of the event. The wreck would collect Dale O’Neil and Approval Series champion AJ Hamel and sideline them for the remainder of the event with Hamel going for a wild ride down the backstretch.
Al Smith Jr. was able to wrestle the lead away from Nicklas Rasmussen around the 3/4 mark of the race and hold off a charging Justin MacDuff through a couple late restarts to secure the win! In victory lane, Al Smith had this to say: “It was a good race for us tonight and we look to keep the momentum going heading into Iowa.”
Next week, the lights come on for the Pro Series! The Les Enterprises MP Roy Inc Upstate Racing League Pro Late Model Series heads into Iowa for the Les Enterprises MP Roy Inc 100 which will be broadcast live on LSRTV. If you’re not signed up yet, be sure to sign up by Wednesday the 5th. We hope to see you at the track!
