Last night, the Les Enterprises MP Roy Inc. Upstate Racing League Pro Late Model Series headed to the Lanier Raceplex for race 5 of 16 on the schedule, the Kingsport Tire and Auto Center 125. For the second straight race, Nicklas Rasmussen would win the NHR Pole Award, with Jason Stehney flanking him on the front row. 25 cars would start the race, which would be slowed for 6 cautions. After overcoming a little adversity to win at USA last week, Nicklas would lead all 125 laps en route to scoring his second straight win, and his fifth straight top 10 to start the season. Nicklas is the only driver in the series to finish top 10 in all five races so far, and by virtue of his solid season so far he has a 4 point lead over Justin Fuller in the points standings. Fuller finished in the 2nd position last night, followed by John Ada, Brandon Oddo, and AJ Bunch in the top 5.
Next week the series heads to the Irwindale Speedway for the Atomic Signworks 127. The race for the chase is heating up, as currently the last driver in is Dale O’Neil. He has a slim 1 point cushion over 13th place Guillaume Fortin and a 2 point cushion over 14th place Justin MacDuff. The race can be seen live on Thursday at 9:30 PM EST, with coverage being provided by LSRTV. Tune in, and we’ll see you at the track!
