This week the cars and stars of the Les Entreprises MP Roy Inc Pro Late Model series head to South Boston Speedway for the Brian Rogers Motorsports 100. Last season it was Brandon Oddo who brought home the checkered flag. South Boston Speedway has been on the URL schedule since the inception of the league. This little track provides a lot of excitement and recently more than one groove of racing. This year the qualifying process makes it even more important as only the top 18 drivers on time will lock themselves in. The current track record is held by last year’s champion Josh Kotten with a time of 14.744 seconds. Will this fall during this trip to South Boston? Also slated for this race is the 25 lap last chance qualifier where the drivers who qualify 19th on back will battle for the last 6 spots available on the grid. We saw at Irwindale that the B-Main was very aggressive and we also saw some desperate driving from drivers trying to make the A-Main. No driver is safe as there are no guaranteed starters except active series champions, Justin Fuller and Brandon Oddo, who have 2 provisionals they can use all season.
The championship battle is going to be fierce as early in this season it has been the Justin Fuller and Nicklas Rasmussen show as they have been flopping the points lead back and forth. Currently everyone is eyeing to be in the top 12 in points as those drivers will be the ones who will battle for the championship when the Chase starts in January. Before then, the inaugural Les Entreprises MP Roy Inc All-Star Race, December 29th, will have guaranteed starting sports for the drivers in the top 12 after the Kingsport Tire and Auto Center 125 which is being held at Martinsville Speedway December 15th. Currenty, AJ Bunch is tied with Justin MacDuff for 12th place in points. It will be a battle to the end to see who makes the top 12 as lots of good cars and teams are currently on the outside looking in.
This week’s race is sponsored by Brian Rogers Motorsports. Brian Rogers drives the number 12 Mountain Dew Chevy in the Les Entreprises MP Roy Inc Pro Late Model Series. Rogers has been racing with the league for 5 seasons now and has shown great improvement over the last 2 seasons and is currently 7th place in the standings. So far this season Rogers has 2 top 5s and 5 top 10 finishes. Thank you for your support Brian!
Practice for this week’s race will start at 8pm on Thursday December 8th and will run until 8:55pm est. Qualifying will follow along with the B-Main and the main event which can be seen live at 9:30 right here on our website and from our broadcast partners LSRTV.
