Officials held a press conference this morning at URL head quarters to announce a few things that will be happening over the next few months. The first announcement was the CKF Construction Spring Approval Series, which will begin Thursday, March 23rd. The series kicks off at Southern National Motorsports Park and will be 7 races long. The last three races will be broadcast live and will conclude at the newest short track, The Bull Ring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. For the full schedule of events please visit the schedule page. Al Smith also announced that as of today registration for the CKF Construction Approval Series is open. The series is a chance for new drivers to become acquainted with the URL’s rules and current drivers. Current drivers are encouraged to participate. 16/17 drivers Brian Rogers, Cale Frennier, Mike Holtsclaw, and AJ Hamel are rumored to be prepping their cars for the series. Smith Jr hinted that his #96 may make a few appearances as well. The Spring series will be the first of TWO off season pro late model Approval series opportunities. The (late) Summer series is tentatively scheduled to begin in late August. But for those who don’t want to wait, sign up now! More experience and door to door fun are waiting!
But wait, there’s more! Don’t forget about the banquet for the Les Entreprises MP Roy Inc Pro Late Model Series being held April 22nd at Dave N Busters in Syracuse NY. Tickets are on sale now. Finally, The Upstate Racing League is growing and Smith Jr also announced the Super Sunday Series. We’ve had a few drivers that say they wanted another night of racing so we are adding it. Starting Sunday, March 12th we are going to run the Super Late Model. This will be run until the dirt feature is released and then we will switch to our dirt program after a few weeks of testing. We plan on running 2 divisions of dirt on Sunday nights. We will be running the Super Late Model pictured below and we will be running the 360 or 410 sprint cars. We are very excited about going to two nights a week.
The 16/17 season may have ended but the engines won’t be quiet for long. Come be a part of the action!
