Tonight, the Les Enterprises MP Roy Inc Upstate Racing League Pro Late Model Series headed to the Iowa Speedway for the Les Enterprises MP Roy Inc 100. Stefan Marinak would set fast time and claim the NHR Pole Award, with CJ LaVair flanking him on the front row. The top two starters would lead the way through the beginning part of the race. Justin Fuller was able to snag the lead away from Marinak and he would lead 22 laps before an incident would send his car into the wall and relegate him to an 18th place finish. The first of 2 caution flags would fly on lap 42, when AJ Bunch and Eric Haag would make contact. The incident would end Bunch’s night.
Under the caution, strategy would come into play with a handful of cars taking just fuel only, a few taking two tires, and most of the field electing to use their allotted 4 tires. The ensuing restart would be a wild one, and the 2014-15 Series Champion Brandon Oddo would be the leader as he took two tires on his pit stop. It didn’t take long for Marinak to regain control and from there it was all him as he would take home the win with CJ LaVair finishing in 2nd, followed by a hard charging Brandon Oddo, Nicklas Rasmussen, and John Ada in the top 5.
By virtue of his 3rd place finish after starting the race from 18th, Brandon Oddo would win the HAAG TV Hard Charger Award. The Nein Shiza Autosport Rookie of the Race was Guillaume Fortin, who finished in the 8th position.
Next week, the Pro Series heads to the Lucas Oil Raceway for race number 2, the Kingsport Tire and Auto Center 100. Be sure to tune in live on LSRTV at 9:30 pm EST and check back here often for updates and news regarding the league. We’ll see you at the track!
