Thursday night, the Les Enterprises MP Roy Inc Upstate Racing League Pro Late Model Series rolled into the USA International Speedway for race 4 of 16, the Kingsport Tire and Auto Center 125. For the first time this season, the driver from Denmark Nicklas Rasmussen would set quick time and start from the NHR Pole.Al Smith Jr. would start to his outside in P2. Rasmussen would overcome a spin mid race and go on to lead 33 laps total en route to claiming his first win of the season at USA! Rasmussen has been very strong this season, and this win coupled with his consistency through the first 4 races should put the rest of the field on notice that he will be in the championship conversation come chase time. By virtue of gaining 14 spots throughout the course of the event (16th to 2nd), John Ada was awarded the HAAG TV Hard Charger Award. Jay Dee Callahan was the highest finishing Nein Shiza Autosport Rookie of the Year contender, finishing in 4th place. One penalty was assessed post race to the driver of the number 54 machine Charlie Ryan. Upon review by the Admin team and Driver’s Council, it was determined that a lane change violation occurred on the final restart. As a result, Charlie was assessed an EOL Penalty.
With 7 races to go before the Chase begins, Justin Fuller is the points leader by 1 point over Nicklas Rasmussen, 4 points over 3rd place Stefan Marinak, 24 points over 4th place Jason Stehney, and 25 points over 5th place Brian Rogers Jr. 2014-2015 Series Champion Brandon Oddo is currently the last driver in a Chase position, and he has a slim 1 point cushion over 13th place Justin MacDuff. Next week the series heads to the Lanier National Speedway for the Kingsport Tire & Auto Center 125. The race can be viewed live on LSRTV on November 10th, with coverage starting live at 9:30 PM EST.
