URL officials are excited to announce the newest format for the 2019 Coach’s Corner All Star Race as we are less than one week away! This year marks the 4th annual all star event for the Upstate Racing League and it is a race everyone looks forward to. Based off Thunder Road’s “Milk Bowl,” drivers are competing to have the lowest score at the end of the three segment race. The tie breaker for scores will be whoever finishes highest in the last segment. The raceday will start at 7PM EST with practice. The green flag will wave at 8PM EST for segment one. Winner of the event will get a replica miniature Martinsville Speedway grandfather clock!
This year everyone in good standing with the league is welcome to participate. Departing from the previous format, the starting grid will not be set by random draw for segment one. Segment one will see 13 drivers take time for their starting positions with the rest of the field being set by iRacing (drivers from the last chance showdown). The 13 drivers whom are eligible to take time are Matt Kocher, Justin MacDuff, AJ Hamel, Stefan Marinak, Kris Stump, Brian Rogers Jr, Shawn Cool, Al Smith Jr, Andy Lambert, Guillaume Fortin (the Chase competitors), and then Rumar Vinyl Designs Pole Award Winners not in the Chase: Bryan Hacker, Brad Carpenter, and Rex Hoyle.
Officials have also changed the rear end gear to 5.34 and all league rules are in effect for this event.
Segment One will be 33 laps with yellows on.
Segment Two will be 33 laps with yellows on. The starting grid will be a complete invert of the finishing order of segment one.
Segment Three will be 34 laps with yellows on. The starting grid will be a complete invert of the finishing order of segment two.
Drivers will earn points based on where they finish each segment. Can a driver win all 3 segments?
